Library Lines

Since the earliest days of the RPL, the library's staff has used the media to encourage area patrons to explore the holdings of the parish library. The local newspapers have always been strong supporters of the library, from covering the library project's bold beginnings to featuring articles on how the library benefits the community. Beginning in the 1950s, the Alexandria Daily Town Talk began offering a regular column written by a staff member of the RPL covering a library-related topic. Throughout the years, the title of this column has changed many times { Town Talk Book Talk, World of Books, Teen Book Talk, and others } but its purpose has remained the same: to broaden the reach of the parish library. Library Lines, the column's current format, appears weekly in the Sunday edition of the Alexandria Daily Town Talk.
