What do you offer, other than books?

We try to offer something for everyone no matter what your needs or interests are. Other items you can check out include the latest edition of popular magazines, CDs (music and audiobook), movies (VHS and DVD), and equipment such as projectors and screens.

In addition to circulating items, we also have reference materials, which you can use in the library, including encyclopedias, maps, and dictionaries. You can also come in to read the newspaper, use our computers, or bring your own laptop and use our free wireless internet.

Interested in actually buying a book? Several of our branches offer regular used book sales. We also have an annual book sale at the Alexandria Mall.

We also offer many services including our Reference Department which can help you find the information you need, when you come in person, or ask by phone or e-mail. Another service that has proven popular is our free computer training. From the basics to e-mail and searching the internet, you can come in and learn how to use a computer.

We also offer regular programming for everyone. From storytimes and summer reading programs for children to literary and historical programs for adults, we offer informative and entertaining programs at our various locations.
