New King Branch Facade

On July 3rd, at a Special Meeting of the Rapides Parish Library Board of Control, President Susie Smith asked the board for a motion to submit to the Rapides Parish Police Jury a request to start the bid process for construction on the new King Branch.

Board member Diane Lawton moved to ask the Police Jury to allow bids for a building. Board Member Linda McMahon seconded the motion. The Board voted and all agreed. Rapides Parish Library Director Steve Rogge said the architects would need time to finalize the drawings before the Police Jury could ask for bids. Mr. Tudor, architect from Alliance Design, said they would also need time to work on the mechanical designs, and would like to advertise soon afterward.

Rapides Parish Library Business Manager, Jimmy Holsomback said the plans should be finished sometime near the end of July. After that, construction contractors will have 25 days place bids. They hope to decide on a bid in early September.
