Fuhrer Branch
In 1982, the Fuhrer Branch of the Rapides
Parish Library System was built to replace the MacArthur Branch. On November
16, 1982, the library opened its doors to service a growing residential
and commercial area in south and west Alexandria. This section of Alexandria
continues to grow, and now in addition to serving area residents, the library
also serves schools, businesses, and hospitals in the region.
![]() Each summer the library hosts a Summer Reading Program for children and youth of all ages, from pre-schoolers to teenagers. Among the occasions that the library celebrates are National Library Week, National Children's Book Week, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas. |
