The Glenmora Branch of the Rapides Parish
Library system was the fifth parish library to open in Rapides Parish.
At its opening on January 20, 1942, a record 63 customers registered, and
since that time the library has faithfully served the residents of Forest
Hill, Glenmora, Long Leaf, Melder, Pitkin, Plainview, Turkey Creek, and
Union Hill. Today the library carries on the mission of Lucy Mae Britt,
its first custodian, by providing its customers with local access to a
variety of books and other educational materials.
Like
many of the parish's libraries, the Glenmora Branch is particularly interested
in helping its young customers to develop a love for reading. To do this
the library offers a children's storytime from 10 to 10:45 a.m. every Thursday.
The library also offers special reading incentives for children during
the Easter and Halloween seasons. Parents will definitely want to be sure
to visit the library during these times.
If you have any
questions about the Glenmora Branch, its services, or its special programs,
please contact the library staff. They will be glad to answer your questions
and to provide you with any assistance that you may need.
Glenmora Branch offers a variety of used books for sale in their Back
Room. The Back Room is run by the Glenmora Friends of the Library.
It is open every Wednesday from 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. |
