Although the Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch is closed for relocation, the Summer Reading Program continues in King area community at the gymnasium at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church.
Musician Judy Caplan Ginsburgh was scheduled to perform on Friday, July 12, from 2 to 3 p.m., and The Harvey Rabbit and Friends Show will entertain on Friday, July 26, from 2 to 3 p.m.
“It’s a wonderful idea to have the program at True Vine to keep our kids involved as we transition to our new building,” King Branch Assistant Manager LaKeisha Henton said. “It’s nice that it’s still accessible to the kids. We hope the community will enjoy the entertainment.”
Judy Caplan Ginsburgh bases out of Alexandria, Louisiana and is a nationally recognized and multi-award winning performer, recording artist and educator. She travels throughout North America presenting concerts, residencies, educational keynotes and workshops. She is the founder and Executive Director of Central Louisiana Arts & Healthcare, Inc. and works to bring performances to hospital patients and their families, and medical staff in Central Louisiana.
The Harvey Rabbit and Friends Show includes Harvey Rabbit, Cecil the Orangutan, and T-Boy the Alligator. Presented by ventriloquists Laura and Tim Allured, the show is full of fun and energy, puppetry, music, magic and comedy. Their act was featured on ABC’s America’s Funniest People, Good Morning America, and World News Tonight.
