On November 14, a program was held at the Boyce Branch of the Rapides Parish Library to instruct people on how to prepare for a hurricane on a limited budget. This program was a joint effort of the Central Louisiana American Red Cross, the LSU-Alexandria Service-Learning Project and the Rapides Parish Library. The program was designed around the FEMA efforts to get everyone to be prepared for a hurricane. The three main points are to “Make a plan, get a kit, and stay informed.” It was purposely held out of hurricane season, so that residents could start building their hurricane kits by spending a few dollars each month on items to be saved in the event that a hurricane does hit this area.
This event is sponsored by: the Rapides Parish Library, American Red Cross of Central Louisiana, and LSU-Alexandria Service Learning.
