Martin Luther King Jr. Branch to relocate

Rapides Parish Library is planning a new and improved Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch on Broadway Avenue near Peabody High School. The new building, 2,640 square feet larger than the current location, will feature more shelving, fifteen public computers, a meeting room, a small group study room, and a drive-through pick-up and drop off window.

Three will be held at Westside Regional Library, located at 5416 Provine Place in Alexandria: on October 18, 2012, 6:30-8:00 p.m.; October 27, 2012, 3:00-4:30 p.m.; and November 8, 2012, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Big Read Kick Off

Rapides Parish Library will launch its Big Read program in celebration of THE THINGS THEY CARRIED by Tim O’Brien with a celebration on September 22, from 10 AM until 2 PM at Renegade Harley Davidson on North Mall Drive in Alexandria. The Big Read in Rapides is presented in partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) and Renegade Harley Davidson.

Dedication of Art by Morris Taft Thomas
