Dr. Jean Feldman Presents "Back to Basics"
October 9 & 10

The Rapides Parish Library is proud to host Dr. Jean Feldman, renowned early childhood scholar, in a concert for young children and parents of all ages on October 9 at 6:30 PM at the Kees Park Community Center. Dr. Feldman will also be offering an all-day workshop for early childhood educators on October 10 at the Country Inn and Suites Convention Center in Pineville. Both events are free to the public, but pre-registration is required for the workshop.

These events are sponsored by Capital One Bank as a part of a 3-year grant to expand the library’s Pre-School Outreach Plus service to area pre-schools and child-care centers and to train early childhood educators in the philosophies and practices of teaching literacy. This gala celebration represents the culmination of the library’s training efforts over the past two years in which over 700 educators and care-givers have participated in learning how to address the educational needs of toddlers and pre-school children.

Dr. Jean Feldman has been actively involved in education for over 35 years as a classroom teacher, instructor of adults, author, and consultant. Dr. Feldman has a B.A. from the University of Georgia, a D.A.S.T. from Emory University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Georgia State University. She is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the National Kindergarten Alliance, and the International Reading Association.

Dr. Feldman is the author of A Survival Guide for Preschool Teachers; The Complete Book of Indoor and Outdoor Games and Activities; Transition Time; Science Surprises; Self Esteem Activities; Wonderful Rooms Where Children Can Bloom; Ready, Set, Read!; Teaching Tunes; Transition Tips and Tricks; and The Best of Dr. Jean series recently published by Scholastic.

Dr. Jean’s recordings include: “Dr. Jean Sings Silly Songs,” “Dr. Jean and Friends,” “Sing to Learn,” “Is Everybody Happy?” “Nursery Rhymes and Good Ol’ Times,” “Kiss Your Brain!” “All Day Long,” and “Just for FUN!”
