{"id":4624,"date":"2019-10-23T14:17:26","date_gmt":"2019-10-23T19:17:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rpl.org\/?page_id=4624"},"modified":"2024-10-11T14:45:10","modified_gmt":"2024-10-11T19:45:10","slug":"3d-printing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.rpl.org\/index.php\/collections-services\/in-branch-services\/3d-printing\/","title":{"rendered":"3D Printing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>A few things you\u2019ll need to know before you get started!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 3D printers can be used with basic knowledge of Computer Assisted Drawing (CAD). &nbsp;3D designs may come from the following&nbsp;<strong>FREE<\/strong>&nbsp;web-based applications that you can download to your home computer, tablet or laptop:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Tinkercad:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tinkercad.com\/\"><strong>www.tinkercad.com<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;(operates best with Google\u2122 Chrome)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SketchUp:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sketchup.com\/\"><strong>www.sketchup.com<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Video tutorials that accompany most CAD programs can help you master the basics of 3D design.&nbsp; Any 3D drafting software may be used to create a design as long as the file can be saved in a&nbsp;<strong>.stl&nbsp;<\/strong>file format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do not have access to a home computer with Internet access, the Library has computers that may be used to access the above listed web-based CAD programs.&nbsp; There are also many 3D digital designs available from various file-sharing databases such as&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thingiverse.com\/\"><strong>Thingiverse<\/strong><\/a>.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Most file-sharing databases will allow you to modify existing files or share your own design creations with members.<br><br>If&nbsp; you have questions, contact the Reference Department at the Main Library at 318-445-2411 select option #2 and one of our knowledgeable reference specialists will help you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your design is ready as an STL file you can submit it via email to <a href=\"mailto:refstaff@rpl.org\" data-type=\"mailto\" data-id=\"mailto:refstaff@rpl.org\">refstaff@rpl.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Filament Colors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Red, yellow, orange<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blue, green, purple<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Black, white, gray<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brown<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few things you\u2019ll need to know before you get started!
