Public Relations & Marketing Assistant

Under the direction of the Public Relations & Marketing Manager, this person is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the promotion of library services and programs, special events, projects, and outreach.
Job Functions
- Assist in creating graphics, video and interactive content for all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter,TikTok,etc).
- Assist in posting stories, reels, graphics, video and interactive content for all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter,TikTok,etc).
- Maintain a PR social media content calendar, ensuring regular and timely posting of events/program across multiple platforms.
- Monitor comments and inquiries on social media and respond in a timely, respectful, accurate, and informative manner, providing excellent customer service across all social media channels.
- Attends library events across the library system to take photos and provide real-time publicity and posting.
- Work collaboratively with branches and other departments to create exciting and fun content.
- Play a vital role in supporting various administrative tasks and coordinating key activities within the PR department.
- Assist in online digital calendar data entry.
- Support the PR team with any additional PR tasks requested.
Other
- Performs other related work as required or directed.
- The workweek begins on Monday and ends on Sunday. Saturday and Sunday hours may be included.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and ability to read, write, understand carry out written and oral instructions.
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
- Must be proficient in various software packages in a Windows environment including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Adobe Photoshop
- Learn and follow library principles, policies and procedures
- Understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Use resourcefulness, tact, courtesy, and respect to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, on the phone and in person, with supervisor team, co-workers, and the public
- Work well with the public, department heads, supervisor and other staff members
- Work as part of a team

- Keep detailed, current and accurate records
- Proof of ability to type 35 wpm on computer keyboard.
- Ability to lift, carry, and push minimum 25 – 30 lbs
- Ability to repeatedly reach above your head.
- Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, squat, and climb two to three level step ladder
- Ability to stand for varied and extended (2 ½ to 3 hours) period of time
- Ability to sit for varied and extended (2 ½ to 3 hours) period of time
- Ability to focus and remain attentive to detail while doing repetitive tasks
- Ability to work flexible, irregular and varied work hours, including Saturdays, nights and weekends
- Ability to work alone in a building after hours, entering and exiting.
- Ability to withstand drastic changes in temperature and inclement weather.
