JOB FUNCTIONS

• Performs circulation activities (including, but not limited to) checking in and out of library materials, registering customers, issuing library cards, and processing overdues.
• Sorts and prepares books and other library materials for shelving.
• Conducts or assists in basic to advanced research of books, periodicals and other print materials to provide information to customers.
• Operates various computer sources and various databases for basic to advanced research, retrieval, and dissemination of information to customers.
• Provides various customer service related information to library customers in a light to heavy customer service work environment.
• Performs basic to elementary level bibliographic and/or circulation functions.
• Submits books and other materials requests in print and/or electronically to the Loan Division.
• Shelves and shelf reads library materials.
• Sorts and prepares materials for delivery.
• Types and/or prints various information tracking records relative to delivery of materials.
• Prepares and/or processes returns.• Collects monies from customers for various services and fees.
• Performs light housekeeping duties to maintain a neat work area and customer service environment.
• Assists with materials and equipment preparations, registrations and attendance of Summer Reading Program activities.
• Assists with decorating and maintaining department/branch bulletin boards.
• Performs other related work as required or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and ability to read, write, understand carry out written and oral instructions.
• Must have reliable phone service and a current email address that allows messages to be received and answered.
• Computer literate.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
• Proof of ability to type 35 wpm on computer keyboard.• Ability to lift, carry, and push minimum 25 – 30 lbs.
• Ability to repeatedly reach above your head.
• Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, squat, and climb two to three level step ladder.
• Ability to stand for varied and extended (2 ½ to 3 hours) period of time.
• Ability to sit for varied and extended (2 ½ to 3 hours) period of time.

System Specialist II

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Serves as library webmaster responsible for creating, updating,
maintaining and designing all library websites.
• Maintains internal web applications (3d Print Queue, Statistic Counting,
and Square Check Reporting).
• Researches new software for web page design.
• Acts as the IT Help Desk, fielding calls and entering them into the service
log. Assigns calls to appropriate staff members.
• Provides hardware and software troubleshooting and tech support.
• Presents computer training to the public on software systems offered for
public access.
• Compiles monthly analytics reports from Google Analytics.
• Compiles WiFi usage reports.
• Provides A/V setup when needed.
• Primary support for Square Reader (Point-of-Sale and Credit Card
Processor).
• Serves as the primary support for all online resources.
• Acts as Administrator of digital signage system.
• Acts as one of the Facebook Page Managers.
• Represents the Library at IT Consortium and State Library IT meetings
• Interact with Innovative Interfaces to request changes to Library Catalog
(Encore).
• Performs other related and non-routine tasks as required or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, math, or a related field
preferred. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the
minimum qualifications may be submitted.
• Two years of experience developing and maintaining web pages and
services, including one year of experience in a technical support role.
• The ability to read, write, understand, communicate and carry out written
and oral decisions independently in a diverse environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of:

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Maintains servers, PCs, routers, switches, backup drives, network printers and entire operating systems.
• Designs and installs network equipment and determines or assist in determining hardware and software requirements and configurations by studying, analyzing, and evaluating automation factors such as scope of projects, number of users, reporting requirements, volume of transactions, access restrictions, cost restraints, power specifications and security conditions.
• Identifies remote access solution implementation and support such as VPN and VNC.
• Protects database and confidentiality of operational system, including coded and/or encrypted passwords.
• Maintains and performs preventive maintenance of systems.
• Analyzes and confirms software objectives and specifications of equipment and objectives of users.
• Installs hardware and software, confirming program operations by conducting tests and/or modifying programs to meet needs of library and users.
• Ensures operable equipment by providing maintenance, troubleshooting
malfunctions, and providing other tech support or arranging for external support.
• Researches, recommends and makes software purchases.
• Within scope of position, recommends and/or makes management decisions using independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance involving the library’s operation.
• Strong analytical, planning, organizing and problem-solving skills are needed.
• Ability to work independently without supervision.
• Performs other related and non-routine tasks as required or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, math, or a related field. Preferred. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be submitted.
• Three (3) years of full-time (minimum 1456 hours per year) network/systems administrator experience of Windows Servers, and/or other hands-on documented technical support systems experience with an automated networked communication system.
